GES, which has been a boys' school, changed its status when it started accepting female students. Mr. Koe Ewe Teik, the first Principal established the identity of GES by creating a symbol and changing the school song titled Onward. Along with that, GES continues to advance.

A few years later, the name of the school changed to Secondary English School (SES) and several new buildings were built. The school continues to move actively in the academic and extracurricular fields.

In 1980, the name of the school changed again this time to Sekolah Tinggi Kluang (STK). Since 1984, transitional classes are no longer established at STK. The name of the school changed again to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tinggi Kluang (SMKTK). Every year, the school's students continue to forge various successes in the academic and extracurricular fields.

In order to maintain the elite status of the school, once again the name of the school has been changed to Sekolah Tinggi Kluang (STK). Since the opening of the school, several principals have come and gone. Now, STK will continue to drive towards glory under the administration of Tuan Haji Razali Bin Jamil.
